I have lived in the village of Oakland Mills for the past 13 years. Currently I’m the PTA President of Stevens Forest Elementary School. My family has lived in Columbia since 1971. I am a member of the first graduating class of Wilde Lake High (1973). It is my belief that together we can make the changes needed in order to keep our Columbia dream alive. I have lived coast to coast and decided to come home to raise my family. Oakland Mills Village can become what it once was. I would like to be a part of that change.Eiland23@comcast.net

I have lived in Oakland Mills for ten years, and have great respect for the life’s work and vision of Mr. Rouse as regards to Columbia. I believe that the vision and work of Columbia is ongoing. That is why I have such admiration for the Oakland Mills Village Board and others involved in our Revitalization process. I have seen our Village become a better place. Over the past five years I have become a more active participant in Village affairs, and I feel ready to take this next step to serve Oakland Mills as a member of the Board. jamccready@gmail.com

I am a current member on the Oakland Mills Board. I grew up in the Stevens Forest neighborhood. After graduating from Oakland Mills High School, I attended the University of Maryland. I returned shortly thereafter to be a teacher in Howard County. One of my passions is volunteering. I participated with many committees and service organizations. I look forward to continuing my work with the residents of Oakland Mills.bdonoughe@mail.com

My wife Lynn and I have been residents of Oakland Mills since 1972. Serving on the Village Board, I have had the privilege of working with a dynamic, creative group of citizens who want to help guide Oakland Mills and Columbia into the 21st century. I want to help make this wonderful experience of community available to young families who are looking for a healthy, attractive place to raise the third generation of Oakland Mills residents. I am looking forward to building on initiatives by serving another term as a member of the Oakland Mills Village Board.pengelke@amazingspace.us.com

In 2002, my husband and I bought our beautiful pink rancher in the village of Oakland Mills. I love life in Oakland Mills and introducing my son to the wonders of Columbia. We love the tot lots, open spaces, and resident programs. Though Columbia holds many treasures, Oakland Mills maintains unique community ideals. As a ballroom dance instructor, violinist in the Columbia Orchestra, and acupuncturist, the Oakland Mills vision of a community solidly supporting music and arts connect with my personal goals. If elected I would be proud to serve the Oakland Mills Village creating a more connected community. chidancer@gmail.com

As an active member of the OMVB, I realize the importance representing the community. I have lived in Oakland Mills for nearly 5 years and have had many wonderful experiences. As the current Vice-Chair, I’m encouraged at what progress we’ve made over the past 2 years and look forward to working towards a brighter Oakland Mills in year 3. Now, more than ever, we need passionate leaders of the community to embrace the coming changes for our neighbors. Feel free to contact me.mmckenna@weichert.com

I currently serve as the Chair of the Oakland Mills Village Board. My goal will continue to be to carry out the Master Plan for Oakland Mills. Beautification of the village center has begun with the Robert Oliver Project, with hopes it will attract residents and prospective businesses. We have also worked on garnering funds for connectivity to Town Center, creating green programs to help protect the environment, and ensuring that Oakland Mills remains a strong participant in the planning of Blandair Park. I look at the coming year with great anticipation as we strive to move Oakland Mills forward.

I am seeking a third term on the Oakland Mills Village Board because I wish to continue working with residents to ensure our community’s voice is heard as changes occur in our village, such as Blandair Park and a possible future connection from our Village Center to Columbia Town Center. I have had the pleasure of working with many passionate residents who are also dedicated to addressing the concerns and needs of residents and work to make Oakland Mills a better place to live, work, and play. I asked you for the chance to keep advocating for Oakland Mills. marciajwhite@verizon.net

Alex Hekimian

Alex Hekimian, Columbia Council Representative
It’s an honor to serve as your Columbia Council representative and as an advocate for Oakland Mills. I look forward to making CA more responsive to the priorities of Columbia’s residents and to helping improve the quality of life in Oakland Mills. Using my background as a planner and engineer, I will strive to protect the public interest in decisions relating to anticipated growth in Columbia’s downtown and in our villages. Also, I believe that Columbia’s residents should get the most value for the annual assessment and fees they pay to CA. I appreciate your support. alexhekimian@hotmail.com
